Autumn is officially in full swing and is without a doubt one of the best times of the year! After all, you get to wear cosy warm jumpers, wrap up in a fluffy blanket, whilst sipping on a mug of hot chocolate and watching your favourite TV show or film.

Plus, it’s one of the busiest times for me in the run up to Christmas, bringing my bespoke light-up saxophone and adding a touch of magic to parties and events!

It’s one of the things that I love about my job, especially when I get invited to play for newly-weds all over the world. Nothing beats a good wedding, and I’ve seen so many cool, cute, and unique ways couples display their love for friends and family.

Recently, I’ve noticed a few common wedding trends and inspirational ideas circulating this Autumn to get you in the mood for romance.

Nature Indoors

Who says you can’t bring a few trees, twigs or even flowers indoors?

Not me!

Autumn is all about nature and can be part of your wedding too.

Floral installations and archways make for great photo shoots, where leafy ornaments like ivy, wheat greens, twigs and golden leaves can be placed on chairs or sprinkled on tables.

Small trees placed around the room will also give your wedding that rustic feel!

Or, embrace the inner woodland goddess inside of you by adorning the bride with floral accessories, tiaras, and jewellery – as if they’ve just stepped out of a fairytale, ready to marry their handsome prince or princess!

Entertainment with a Difference

Of course, music is the highlight of any wedding’s entertainment. As a musician myself, playing my party tunes for everyone to listen and dance to never gets old!

Throughout my travels, I’ve noticed many weddings using photo booths to take hilarious pictures with, and for guests to keep as a memento! Or, get creative by hiring an illustrator to sketch you and your guests into some pretty funny caricatures!

Let them Eat Cake!

Let’s be honest, no wedding is complete without the cake itself as the main centrepiece. It must look and taste delicious!

Naked cakes seem to be making a show this year, with couples choosing waffles or even pancakes as their tiers instead! For decorations, fruit and dripped icing is a great addition to an already sweet looking confection.

All about the Dress

During the coldest of seasons, many brides are adding layers to their dress and opting to wear jackets or faux fur shawls, so they can stay warm and look fabulous!

Some choose to have two wedding dresses: One for the ceremony, and one for the reception. Yet, bridal separates are the latest trend to hit Autumn weddings, with detachable sleeves, tops, or skirts. This will not only make the transition from formal to party wear smoother but could save you spending money on an extra dress too.

Calligrific!

Calligraphy has always been a classic feature at weddings, making any piece of writing or design look sophisticated and elegant. There are many styles to choose from these days, and can be used for champagne glasses, monograms, or for something a little different, why not try writing messages on chalkboards for all your guests to see as they enter the ceremony.

Hello fellow unicorns!

Today I’m here to share with you all another one of my fabulous wedding experiences. This time, I went to the luxurious Delamere Manor for Kate and Andrew’s wedding!

Centred within the beautiful Cheshire countryside, it holds up to 100 acres of scenic views, lush gardens, green forests, and five fully licensed venues for couples to choose from!

Plus, this majestic house was once the home of none other than the amazingly talented Gary Barlow! So, you can see why I couldn’t contain my excitement when Kate and Andrew hired me to play sax for them!

I felt like a celebrity myself!

As friends and family gathered for an evening of relaxation and fun, we were honoured to be playing in the state-of-the-art night club. Yes, you heard correct, Delamere Manor has its very own nightclub!

I couldn’t believe how much it reminded me of Ibiza too. It has everything you need and more to wow your guests for a night of partying! From a well-stocked bar and suspended glitter ball, to a chequered dance floor that (just like chess) is guaranteed to make you pull all the right moves for dancing success.

Taking inspiration from Gary himself, me, my DJ, and bongo girl were determined to ‘light up the sky’ for everyone with sounds to rock their socks (or in this case, shoes and heels) off – Reading the crowd as they danced besides us, and making the happy couple feel on top of the world!

As a travelling saxophone player, it’s a privilege to play my music around the world and meet so many amazing people along the way!

However, whilst I’m wowing people with my light-up sax, the holiday destinations are in a league of their own!

White sandy beaches, historic architecture, great food, scenic views – there’s so much to see!

Some of the most beautiful places I’ve been to hold a special place in my heart, which is what I am here to share with you today!

Here are my top 10 favourites:

Lake Como – Lido Di Lenno 
Lake Como is just situated an hour away from Milan, and is known for its dramatic mountainside, clear waters, flourishing gardens and charming villages.

I was lucky enough to play at Lido Di Lenno: an exclusive and modern beach service, who provide sun beds, canopy beds and gazebos, allowing you to relax with a non-stop service of refreshing drinks, beverages, and snacks.

Croatia – Hvar

Nothing beats live music performed on a Yacht to get people entertained! Especially with Hvar’s stunning harbour and beaches as a background!

A busy city, St. Stephen square is great for shopping and a relaxing cup of coffee, where as the Fortress of Fortica and the Pakleni Islands are well worth exploring.

Want a night on the town? Check out the most popular after-hours beach bar: Carpe Diem, for popping tunes produced by local DJs.

Ibiza – Ca’s Mila 

Ibiza is my go-to place as an experienced saxophonist – rocking by the pool, on the dancefloor at a club, or even the odd rooftop party with the option to play beside a live DJ!

If you’re looking for a delicious Mediterranean cuisine, Ca’s Mila is the restaurant for you!

I had an amazing experience playing my soulful tunes, eating some mouth-watering dishes (even making my own taste buds dance too!), and watching the spectacular sun set on the horizon.

Santorini – Santorini Gem 

Santorini is instantly recognisable for its white and blue Cycladic houses, sculpted cliffsides, and sea-green natural pools.

As one of the top wedding venues, Santorini Gem is the very definition of romance, where couples can exchange vows against a sea view backdrop and under a floral canopy.

My heart always skips a beat whenever I play for newlyweds – creating mesmerising moments with music.

Ibiza – La Escollera

Another exotic Ibizan location is La Escollera!

This family-run restaurant is situated in the middle of the Ses Salines natural reserve, with marvellous views of the surrounding Islands and overlooking Mediterranean Sea.

Serving authentic Spanish cuisine, with original recipes including some more modern meals for a variety of palettes. I loved being able to liven up the dining experience for guests and take some time to walk along the beach!

Mallorca – Yacht Club Cala D’Or 

The nightlife in Mallorca never stops and neither does Yacht Club Cala D’Or! It has everything you could want for an amazing wedding or corporate event, with stunning facilities to keep the party going.

An infinity bar, games room, state of the art gym, stylish terrace, and luxury suit – the list goes on! Performing here was an absolute joy as I added an extra spark to the festivities!

Cyprus – King Evelthon Hotel 

Chloraka boasts a mixture of new and old, a lush green environment, diverse culture, and charm that attracts tourists from near and wide.

King Evelthon Hotel is guaranteed to make both families and couples feel like royalty, with a kids club, Spa, wedding reception venue and more! The multi-coloured lights by the pool at night made my own saxophone feel right at home!

Ibiza – Experimental Beach

I love a good summer beach party or seaside wedding, and because my sax is completely wireless, I can take my music everywhere I go as well as mingle with the crowds.

Experimental Beach is situated on a coastal spot called Cap d’es Falco and is always buzzing with activity with an exclusive cocktail and musical experience!

Swiss alps – Dom Bar 

Moving on to a slightly colder climate, the magnificent mountain peaks stretch as far as the eye can see! Perfect for those with a sense of adventure or fancying themselves as a bit of a dare devil with snowboarding, paragliding, and climbing activities.

Afterwards, I would recommend heading over to the Dom Bar for refreshing drinks, a chilled-out atmosphere and some groovy tunes – curtesy of yours truly if you hire me!

Philippines – Amanpulo Hotel

Finally, Amanpulo Hotel made my dream to be on your very own private island come true!

Dive deep to explore the offshore coral reefs, dine out on the beach, and relax via one of their pavilion treatment studios suites set above the treetops – making you feel on top of the world!
