Do you want an Ibiza style sax girl for your party??

I LOVE playing sax in Ibiza and can’t wait to get back there this summer to perform at tonnes of lavish pool parties and events!

I’m known as an Ibiza sax player but I take bookings from all over the world as a nightclub sax player, a saxophonist for weddings (in the UK, Ibiza and wherever else you want to fly me out to!) and even for big brand launch days like my recent gig playing sax at the new Range Rover Evoque launch.

For club and bar managers, Girl on Sax is your sparkly, friendly saxophonist for hire to bring some glitz and glamour to your next club night.

With my light-up sax and modern tunes, plus my sparkly festival hats that help you to spot me in a crowd (as if the glowing saxophone wasn’t enough…!) I bring the full package to all kinds of club nights and parties.

I can go pretty much anywhere while I’m playing my sax, so I can get out into the crowd and allow your punters to dance with the sax and really get the dancefloor rocking and bopping along to my saxy beats.

How does a nightclub saxophonist work with DJs?

I’m glad you asked! A nightclub sax player works GREAT with DJs, just head over to my Facebook page and take a look at any of my recent videos and you’ll see what I mean!

The DJ can be up in the booth as normal laying down the latest tracks, beats, funky disco tunes or pretty much any other era or genre, and I’ll be out on the dancefloor or up on the stage doing my thing with my sax.

I usually work with some kind of backing track, whether it’s DJ decks or a live band, so this is absolutely an excellent way of getting the party started, whether you want me to be the main event or you want my sax to support the DJ set.

Check out my Facebook videos for inspiration from Ibiza weddings and hen weekends to club nights and dancefloor parties – I’ve even played poolside at pool parties, if you want to book me for an appearance at a hotel!

Bringing Ibiza to your hen party with Girl on Sax!

Hello lovelies! I hope 2019 is bringing you plenty of romance – and I look forward to hearing from many more of you looking for a saxophonist for weddings in the weeks after Valentine’s Day.

If you follow my Facebook page you’ll know that I provide a lot of wedding entertainment and I often perform as a nightclub sax player, but one recent event took a different direction.

That’s because I was booked to play sax at a hen party, which just so happened to be a pool party, at that! A sax girl is the perfect addition to any hen party when there’s no boys allowed, as I’m more than happy to join in the fun and bring some Ibiza vibes so that everybody has a great time.

Pool parties are always a hoot too, and of course when you hire a saxophonist you benefit from the fact that I can walkabout anywhere whilst I’m performing, so you can have entertainment poolside and then move indoors when the sun goes down.

With my light-up sax and sparkly outfits, I’m hard to miss even in a crowd, so if you want a hen party that really makes some lifelong memories for everybody there, hire a saxophonist!

What about hiring saxophone players for weddings?

If you want to book a wedding saxophone player for when the boys are around too, that’s amazing!

I’ll bring my unique brand of festival fashion and saxophone to your reception or hen party, and it’s all in the name of having a good time and getting everyone up singing and dancing along.

As we’re rapidly moving towards spring and a glorious summer, I’m starting to get fully booked for wedding entertainment, so if you’re tying the knot in 2019, don’t waste any time getting in touch.

You can email me at may@girlonsax.co.uk to check my availability and I’m happy to suggest some other wedding entertainment ideas that pair up perfectly with hiring a saxophone player, such as a professional DJ with top tunes to serve as backing tracks.

Ultimately whether it’s your hen do or your wedding day, the bride is the centre of attention and deserves to be celebrated – and what better way to do that than with the utterly joyful sounds of a light-up sax??

Getting hitched next winter?

I know, I know, it seems way too early to be thinking about next winter, especially as this one isn’t even over yet. But, if you’re planning on saying ‘I do’ in a spectacularly snowy destination in 2019, you really need to be booking it now.

If you’ve not yet decided on that special place yet, fear not, I have some suggestions to get you started. Of course, I’d be more than happy to come and play my super sassy light up sax for you in any of these places, just sayin’. 😊

If you want a truly winter wonderland, but don’t want to go too far, Jukkasjarvi in Sweden could be just perfect. And, to make your day memorable, the Ice Hotel is the destination you should head to – soooo romantic (I have a number of sparkly hats that would look just fab!).

Obviously, I couldn’t leave out one of my fave places in the world – Lake Como. It is stunning, believe me. And in the winter they have the fabulous Città dei Balocchi, a magical, colourful Christmas extravaganza. If you’re after a Christmas themed wedding, this is the place to be.

Don’t forget about the UK for a wonderful winter wedding – there are so many beautiful places to go. I’ve just played at a wedding at Ashfield House, in Standish – it was simply amazing. Just look at these beautiful flowers.

And, just because you’re going in winter, it doesn’t mean you have to do the whole snowy thing – you know how much I love lazing on a beach! You may want to escape the cold weather and sun yourself on a sandy beach somewhere after the ceremony is over.

If that’s more your thing, you can’t go wrong with the Canary Islands. They’re nearby, only three hours away, and warm all year round. Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife are all fabulous destinations and, as it’s not that far away, the family can come along and watch you tie the knot too.

And, you are, of course, going to want some super sparkly saxy fun to get the party started. So, get in touch and let’s talk about how I can help you create a wonderful winter wedding.

Mistletoe and Matrimony

Did you say ‘Yes!’ to that special person under the mistletoe this Christmas? A lovely friend of mine did, and I couldn’t be happier for her and her handsome man. Now the fun part starts – planning it all.

And, phew, what a lot of planning it is. So why not make one bit of it really easy – book me! In 2018, I played my super sassy light up sax at weddings all over the UK and abroad too. And helped make some really memorable moments.

But, rather than me telling you how great the weddings were, why not check out the videos of the fabulous weddings left on my facebook page from the lovely people I played for below.

Here is a video of me having a blast with my saxophone at a wedding in a beautiful castle.

And here is a video of me doing my stuff with one of my favourite DJs.

Check me out at this stunningly beautiful wedding video. If you’re short on time, skip through to 5.16.

And here are some comments – these lovely people took the time to tell me what they thought of my super sassy sax playing. Thank you, I really appreciate it.

Alex – ‘You were SOOO awesome.’

Elaine – ‘We were at the wedding of Dan & Emily on Friday, you were incredible to watch and listen to.’

Lilian – ‘Fabulous made my son’s wedding memorable xx’ Thanks Lillian, I had a blast too.

Lauren – ‘Fabulous entertainment, so unique, we loved you!!’

Tara – ‘Thank you May for doing such and amazing job.’

Amanda – ‘Thank you so much you were absolutely amazing last night everyone loved every minute of it!!!! X

I’d love to come make your special day sparkly and saxy, so why not get in touch. I do get booked up pretty quickly though, so best to get in touch sooner rather than later.

And I don’t just do receptions, I can play as you walk down the aisle, or at the wedding breakfast, whatever you want.

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019!

Hello you lovely lot,

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, full of filling food, fabulous family gatherings and festive fun. I certainly did!

And, Happy New Year too! I cannot believe 2018 is over already – it whizzed by in a flash of sparkle, travel and funky sax playing.

On my days off, I started to think about all the wonderful places I’ve been and the people I’ve met. I have to tell you, it made me feel like a very lucky girl indeed.

I want to tell you a little more about that in a minute. But first, I really, really need to say a HUGE thank you to some people. The first being you – my lovely clients. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this, so thank you for allowing me to come and entertain you. I really do love making a party memorable!

Next, a whopping great big thanks to all the clubs, agents, DJs, musicians and sound technicians I’ve had the honour of performing with. And last, but definitely not least, my wonderful family for making this year totally incredible.

So, what have been the best bits of 2018? That’s a hard one to call – there were so many great places, people and parties, that choosing one would be just too hard. So, here are a few of my faves.

Fabulous places? Well, Ibiza obviously! Who couldn’t love this sun-drenched party Island? It’s fun and just perfect for hen parties with my funky light up sax. I absolutely loved every minute of it. I also travelled to Santorini – all I can say is, stunning. And, I can’t forget Croatia and Sportsvest – what a wild ride that was.

Bringing the Ibiza sax vibe with my super talented DJ sis Emma has also been one of the highlights of the year too. Thanks Emma – love you loads!

Firsts of things have been really special this year too. Like the first time playing in Lake Como and the first time at a Bar Mitzvah. I love trying new stuff.

Raising money for good causes is always a joy, and playing the sax for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital at the Emerald Ball was no different.

And, finally, my regular Manchester residences, like Revs Deansgate Locks and Tiger Tiger are always saxy, sassy fun.

Wow – writing it all down like this really does show me just how lucky, and totally busy, I was last year. There were so many other memorable things, way too many to mention them all here. So, if you think you’d like me to play at your ‘do’ in 2019, now is a good time to get me booked. If this year is anything like 2018 was, it’s going to be amazing!

ADDING SAX SPARKLE TO BAR MITZVAHS!

Hello lovely people,

I hope you’re all well and happy and getting ready for Christmas – I know I am. I can’t wait, it’s so near I can almost taste the mince pies and mulled wine!

So, what have I been up to lately? Well, I’ve been busy with the Girls that Mix helping some young guys celebrate their coming of age at fabulous Bar Mitzvah events. Getting to be part of such special times is just amazing. The venues are incredible and the atmosphere was out of this world.

As you know, I am the queen of trying new things, and have now added music with a Jewish flavour to my very long list of favourite things to sax to. Getting to play alongside legend DJ Yiddi, was just the icing on the cake!

I just LOVE how much fun these events are, and they loved my light up sax, which always get the party really going. It is my mission to make a special party really really special!

I feel so lucky to lead such a wonderful life, sometimes I can’t believe it – jet setting all over, entertaining all kinds of people in sparkles and sequins, making marvellous memories for them and me! Seriously, getting people on their feet, dancing and laughing is just the best feeling in the world.

If you fancy a bit of sensational sax at your ‘do’, whatever it is – get in touch. I’m a busy girl and get booked up really quickly, especially around this time of year. I promise I’ll make your party one that you’ll remember for a long, long time.

And one last thing…. If you’ve never seen me play sax, you can put that right, by coming to see me at Muse Bar and Eatery in Oldham on this coming Friday 23rd November at 7pm. It’s a Bottomless Brunch After Dark and will be a seriously great night. There will be a fantastic meal, as many cocktails as you can handle and –  the best bit – me and my sensational sax. It will be fabulous, you should come say hi. Call this number if you fancy a great night out – 01457 777 964.

Top 3 tips for the BEST New Year’s Eve Party Ever!

Hey guys,

After I shared my wedding entertainment tips, I’ve been inundated with requests for some New Year’s Eve party tips… so in this blog post I am going to do just that. As a professional saxophonist based in Manchester (but who travels extensively throughout the UK and Europe) I have played at some absolutely out-of-this-world parties. Whether it’s a corporate gig, wedding, Christmas or New Year’s Eve party… I’m the girl you need. My legendary light-up sax can bring colour and excitement to any party!

Make a grand entrance

It doesn’t matter where you’re holding your New Year’s Eve party, make sure you set the tone from the get-go. If, for instance, you’re having a masked ball, why not have masked waiters at the entrance, welcoming people inside. You could also have a red carpet and big floral displays to impress.

If your party is Cinderella themed (why not I say!) you could have a couple of pumpkins and a glass slipper by the entrance.  What’s stopping you from having a butler announce each arrival! Nothing.

Dream big dreams

It’s your party so let your imagination run wild. If you have a table plan, think about some interesting table names around your chosen theme. If you’ll be raising money for charity, why not have people pay £10 for a favour box that either contains a chocolate or a very expensive diamond necklace? If the party’s host announces when everyone can open their boxes it can be thrilling to see who wins.

Photo booths can be so much fun, especially if the props are outrageous!

Think about the music (carefully)

New Year’s Eve Parties are traditionally long affairs as everyone lets their hair down and parties until the early hours. You need to consider this and plan the evening well. It needs structure, or the atmosphere can disappear, faster than Cinderella at the stroke of midnight.

The DJ you choose needs to be a true professional and you’re going to need live performers if you want to make your party go with a swing. They can help raise the energy level of the room so much. I love being hired to entertain at New Year’s Eve parties, whether it’s a small affair, an audience of a few hundred or even more. There is something special about New Year’s Eve parties and I want to help your party go down in history.

To book me, and my fabulous light up sax, get in touch ASAP.

I’m ready and waiting (no Fairy Godmother required)

Adding sparkle to your Christmas parties

It might still be October, but if you’ve been given the task of arranging a private or corporate Christmas party I bet you are well into the swing of organising it! Christmas day is only 67 days away. Venues get booked up super fast and it can be hard to pinpoint one date when most people are free.

I’m the girl on sax who knows how to create a great Christmas party

If you’ve booked your venue and are looking for ways to make your private or corporate Christmas party extra special – I have some words of wisdom to share. I have been booked to perform at over 200 Christmas parties over the last few years, so you could say I’m a bit of an expert hehe.

Making an entrance

You’ll want people to be impressed from the offset, so think about how you are going to set the scene from the moment they step inside. If you’re going to be holding people in a foyer or bar area before they go into the main event room, make sure they’re entertained. You could have a professional sax player like myself or a caricaturist.

Music is a must – in some form or other – as it relaxes people, gets people chatting and prevents the awkward silences. I love adding glamour and excitement to an event and this is what’s needed at every Christmas party.

Think about the table decorations

You don’t have to blow your budget on your centre-pieces but they should be dramatic. Why not have large cocktail glasses with feathers? Or goldfish bowls on a stand with twinkling fairy lights? Having little favour boxes on the tables with sweets inside or raffle tickets could be a nice touch.

Choose the right DJ

Don’t automatically opt for the DJ the venue suggests as they could be mediocre. Do your research and choose someone at the top of their game. I regularly work with some incredible DJs, so I can always point you in the right direction. We know how to get people on their feet and having a good time.

If you want to book a sax player for your private or corporate Christmas party, act fast. My diary is already 80% full so if you want the best, you’ll have to be quick. Give me a ring or drop me an email at may@girlonsax.co.uk

Creating the Greatest Show

“Where it’s covered in all the coloured lights, Where the runaways are running the night…”

You know I love to entertain, the glitz and glamour of being a female Saxophonist, my light up sax, the privilege of getting to do what I love every night. It never grows old, I’m living my dreams.

I get to perform at some incredible weddings and events and for this blog post I thought I’d suggest some wedding entertainment ideas!

It’s your show – so forget about everyone else

Everyone may think you’re ideas are unusual but don’t worry about what people think! Your wedding is your show – and you should have faith in your ideas. It is about you and your partner, about your incredible love.

Avoid awkward silences

Weddings bring people together that mightn’t mix in normal life. This isn’t a bad thing but sometimes there can be silences that need to be filled. During the photos, for instance, you could have musicians play nearby, to keep guests entertained. (I could always play something refined to create a relaxed atmosphere)

Choose music that takes guests on a journey

I absolutely love chatting with the future Mrs and Mr about what songs mean something to them as a couple so that I can include them in the playlist for the night. Songs can evoke so many different emotions… and can be the perfect soundtrack to your big day.

Steer clear of the traditional mobile DJ

If you want your wedding to be extra special and an event that people look back on years later and say ‘Gosh, that was the best wedding ever’ you do need to spend time thinking about your wedding entertainment. At the evening do, you don’t want an empty dance floor or people disappearing before the clock strikes midnight, you want them up on their feet dancing the night away.

The right musician will lift the party to another level, get people to lose themselves in the beat, to forget about everything apart from that moment…. You need Girls That Mix!!!!!! We are an all-female DJ, Sax, Percussion and Electric violin group. We are THE perfect wedding entertainers and can bring something truly unique.

Let’s chat!!!! Get in touch if you want to book me/Girls That Mix for your wedding, whether it’s this year, next year or a few years away. It’s better to get me to pencil you in now, rather than you being disappointed later.

Love you loads, go be magical,

May

Fab-u-lous! The return of corporate events

I have had such an amazing summer, I’ve been the busiest saxophonist in the world I think! I’ve been in so many different countries across Europe for destination weddings and had some unforgettably crazy Ibiza party nights in Manchester and London. I’ve been swishing my sequins at celeb parties and blasting out some incredible tunes with my DJ and percussion pals. It’s been so, so, so blinking brilliant, I feel like pinching myself.

I’m back in Manchester now and focused on the massive corporate events I’ve got coming up in the next few weeks as we countdown to Christmas (we’re in September now so it’s okay to talk about it!) There are some big corporate gigs in my diary and I’m honoured to be playing at the Emerald Ball which is a charity fundraiser that is taking place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel on October 13th . I performed last year, and it was one of my favourite events. It’s so lovely to help raise money for worthy charities and I do love a good party to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

I’m finding I’m getting booked up for Christmas parties, so if you want me to help you get the party started at your corporate party or event, get in touch sooner rather than later. I’d hate for you to be disappointed as I can make any corporate gig go with a bang (whether it’s Bonfire night or not). When it comes to creating the right ambiance and vibe… I’m your girl!

Much love,

May
